Joining Forces for Future Fields & Farmers: AgRibot × ARISE

Collaboration between EU research projects works best when it brings together complementary strengths. That’s why AgRibot has established a new synergy with the ARISE project — an EU-funded initiative focused on advanced AI and robotics for autonomous task performance.

Both projects are responding to a very real challenge: labour shortages and the growing need to automate repetitive and demanding tasks. While our technical approaches differ, the direction is shared — smarter robotics that can safely and reliably operate in real-life agricultural settings.

What ARISE Is Building

ARISE is developing advanced AI and robotics technologies that improve how robots perceive, learn, and perform complex manipulation tasks. At the centre of the project is a reconfigurable robotic manipulator combined with perception and control modules, designed to enable a higher level of autonomous task execution.

The technology stack includes soft, pneumatic robotic manipulators, variable-stiffness end-effectors for handling diverse objects, and 3D vision and scene-understanding modules that help robots interpret their surroundings. ARISE also integrates imitation learning, semantic mapping, localisation, and edge-AI deployment, allowing robotic skills to be learned from human demonstrations and executed efficiently in real time.

These systems are being validated in practical scenarios such as installation, repair, transplanting, and harvesting tasks in solar and hydroponic farm environments — where precision, adaptability, and safe interaction are essential.

Where AgRibot Fits In

AgRibot is also developing robotic systems, with a strong focus on field-ready agricultural robots tested across diverse crops and terrains in Europe. Our approach combines autonomous robotic platforms, AI-based decision support, and AR/XR tools that help farmers understand, supervise, and adopt robotic technologies in daily practice.

While ARISE concentrates on advancing robotic manipulation and autonomous task intelligence, AgRibot focuses on agricultural deployment contexts, pilot validation, and farmer-facing usability. This creates a natural and practical space for exchange and collaboration between the two projects.

Our Collaboration

Through this synergy, we will share practical knowledge and experiences, alongside joint visibility actions such as webinars, blog features, podcast discussions, and cross-project dissemination of technical and field insights.

So stay tuned — more joint activities and updates are coming soon.
